Stickball Blvd Invisible: NYESL and Castle Hill Little League

Community service is important in our world today. Those of us that have more now than we had when we grew up should look for ways of giving back to the community. So, in a effort to reach out our community, the NYESL has reached out to the Castle Hill Little League to help restore the Steve Mercado Club House pictured below. Today was part I of our effort, but the board is greatly disappointed. Basically:
League Player Count: 120 Players
Total effort from the league: 3 Players (Ant Live (and Son), Davey Hernandez, Vido Creales (and Son and Dad)
We had two players show up when the deed was basically done (one from Gold and one from Nothing Personal).
Those teams that plegded during the captains meeting that they'll help and not one ball player showed up should think again. This league is changing and all of us need to adjust. Just like you expect the league to put effort into this league, the league also expects each individual player to also put in some effort. So, if you were home "chillin", then this goes out to you.
How does that saying go: Ask not what this league can do for you, but what YOU can do for this league...
Below are some of the pictures of from today's effort:

There's more work to do..., so reach out to the NYESL board if you want to participate and give back!

StreetLogo Invisible: 2009 Memorial Day Classic!

Even though all games were rained out on Sunday, the thought of the next event puts the mind at ease...the 25th Anniversary of The Memorial Day Tournament! The biggest Stickball event of 2009 is right around the corner.
After all of the anticipation, the best teams from San Diego, Miami, Orlando, Puerto Rico, New Jersey, Manhattan and of course the Bronx will clash on Stickball Blvd! We will also have representatives from the International Stickball League, which also includes Panama.
Last year's Champs, The Gold, will try to defend their 3-Peat of the Memorial Day Tournament and go four 4 in row! The level of competition in this tournament is unmatched as the best Stickball players in the world face off for 3 days here in NYC! Right now we have 18 teams lined up, with 16 already confirmed. Here's some of the events the NYESL has in store for this year’s Tournament:
- A Tribute to the founding members of the NYESL
- 16-18 teams playing on 4 fields all day on Saturday and Sunday
- One game elimination for the top 8 teams on Monday
- Stickball4Kids will play a one game exhibition
- Two bands: Siglo XX on Saturday and Charango Sabor on Sunday
- Kids Entertainment: Face painting, inflatable gym,etc...
- Food Vendors with the best Spanish food in the Bronx!
