Gold Wins the Labor Day Championship!
Congratulations to the Bronx Gold for winning this years' Labor Day Tournament! The Gold faced off against the host team Miami Hurricanes and won by a score of 2-0. The NYESL once again managed to win another Labor Day tournament and Gold makes this Champioship it's 30th! All these championships have come under the management of Richie Marrero and Ralph Martinez as they continue a Stickball legacy within our Stickball community. Also, this year's Labor Day Tournament MVP glory was shared between Albie Santigo and Alex Torres from the Bronx Gold. They did what many could not by being offensively productive in these tough Miami Stickball fields.
A special thanks to Bobby and the Miami Hurricanes for hosting another great Stickball tournament. The Stickball family greatly appreciates your efforts and together we'll continue to promote and pass on this great tradition. On behalf of the NYESL Board and League...Thanks!

LABOR DAY 2009 MIAMI
THANK YOU !!!
As I have said recently on this site ... the NYESL has been extending their hand to me (Miami) for over 25 years. So why would Labor Day 2009 be any different? You asked me to book the Thunderbird Beach Resort. I blocked "30" rooms ... Well, as of this morning (7/21/09) Thanks in great part to "my" friends from the NYESL ... "34" rooms have been booked. 95% booked by the NYESL. As if that wasn't enough 7 of your leagues 9 teams are coming to Miami. It's very tough for this old guy to retire when you show him that much of love. Thank You and God Bless You!
The Hurricanes and I look forward to being your host Labor Day Weekend. Before we play 1 inning you have already made this event a success. Thank You so much for the love and the support. Because of you ... The NYESL ... this will truly be a World Series of Stickball in Miami.
We will also enjoy the Puerto Rico Tainos "final" traveling team. You graced us with your presence 10 years ago (1999) on this very street ... Stickball Blvd. South. We look forward to seeing our old Friends from La Isla del Encanto. Newly crowned FSL champs Skybounce will be in the house. FSL division champs The Chargers of Tampa will be present. As will be the Tampa Lightnings and Deltona Rockets. What Florida tournament would be complete without Ruben, Danny, GoGo and the MIAMI HEAT Stickball Team? And of course your host and 3 time (3PEAT) Florida Stickball Champs ... THE HURRICANES !!!

Quick notes: We will have an exhibition Oldtimers (50+) game & exhibition Kidz (ages 5 - 12) game at our tournament. So bring the kidz along and don't leave home "el viejo". This will be a "FAMILY" event. All are Welcome!
