Game of the Week
Bandits Vs Diamondbacks – This is the second game chosen for the GOTW by the voters. Separated by 3 points in the standings, this game has meaning. The bandits are trying to climb out of last place and can do so by winning this game and knocking the 7th place Dbacks down a few spots. Dbacks have been sliding after a few weeks in which they were playing like one of the league’s elite squads. They will have to find some of that Mojo as they head down the final stretch of the season. A big boost for the Dbacks would be to see Jay in the lineup and his team leading 11 RBIs. The Bandits, have been an inconsistent team as well and have been hampered defensively. They have the league’s worst run differential at -66. They will have to make every base runner count when given the opportunity. The veteran, Andy Rivera, will try to be the spark plug for his team.
Stem Vs Gold – Gold has already won the season series against Stem by winning both games played so far. The last time these two teams met, Gold blew out Stem by a score of 12-2. Can revenge be in order for Stem? To do so, runners have to get on base for DJ, the team’s leader in RBIs (16) and HRs (4). Gold’s Carlito is 2nd in team RBI’s with 16. Adding to that total will be a goal for him in this game.
Saints Vs Emperors – The Saints have won both games played against the Emps so far. Each game has been close though. A key hit for the Emps in both games could’ve definitely changed the final outcomes. If Ant Live can continue his hot hitting from the past few weeks, the Emps can gain a very important win.
Bandits Vs Leland – This is a tough matchup for the Bandits, who are trying to climb out of the league’s cellar. The last time these two teams met, the game ended in a 1-1 tie. Leland has been short of players lately, including playing with a 7-man lineup last time on the Blvd. Edwin is the table setter (32 hits thus far) and Dave provides the power (3 HR’s ) for Leland. The Bandits need their top producer, Jonathan (6 RBIs), to hit with runners on base.
Royals Vs Ravens – The Ravens have a 5 point lead over the Royals and are slightly holding on to the 5th seed. The Royals did not expect to be in 6th place at this point of the season. A win here would be very important for either team. Elvin has been the Ravens’ top producer, driving in 12 runs so far this season.
Saints Vs Diamondbacks – The Saints made a major move two weeks ago by taking over 2nd place. Word is they are not ready to give up that spot. The Dbacks would love to hand some of their former mates a loss this week. Pedro has been on fire for the Saints, going 11 for 22 in his last 6 games.
Gold Vs Royals – This game had several votes for the GOTW. Josh returns to face his former mates. He has been an important part of the Gold outfield, securing the deep out position. The Royals outfield, although normally solid, has made some costly errors in recent weeks. The Gold won’t be shy about rubbing that fact in. Kevin has been a hot hitter for the Royals and is now 1 hit away from tying the team leader, Ruben (30 hits).
Ravens Vs Leland – This is a key matchup this week for both teams. The Ravens are coming off of their 2nd win against Gold this season and really need to build on that to jump a few spots in the standings. Leland dropped to 3rd place last week and need to get back to their winning ways.
Emperors Vs Stem – Last week Stem was uplifted by a rare appearance from the Lippolds. Having them for this game would be nice for the team. Are they set to make another appearance? Will the Emps be at full strength? It has been awhile before we have seen both teams at full force. We will find out on Sunday.
Emperors Vs Bandits – This game was to be played several weeks ago but did not take place. Bandits will have another chance to get a win and move past a team. The Emperors will be looking forward to playing on a field that benefits their playing style, Field #1.
See you on the Blvd!
