Game of the Week
Emperors 3 Vs Saints 2– The recently surging Emperors took on the red hot Saints in this highly anticipated match up. The Emperors have begun to play better in recent weeks and were out to prove they are still one of the leagues premier teams. The Saints drew first blood in this game when Pedro singled in Freddy in the third inning. But the Emperors answered back in the top of the fourth with 5 straight hits, highlighted by Cabans RBI double and Eric’s run scoring single. The Saints answered right back in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game at 2 with back to back doubles by Freddy and Jason. The tie would be short-lived as Eric continued his big game with another RBI in the fifth, capping off a 5 for 5 day. That would be all the Emperors would need as they locked down the Saints from there. Jay added 4 hits for the Emperors. Jason led the Saints with a 3-hit effort.
**Since the Bandits forfeit all 3 games this Sunday, the game with second highest amount of votes took over the game of the week**
Bandits 0 Vs Leland 7– Leland won due to Bandit forfeit
Stem 0 Vs Gold 10– This game was all Gold early and often as they beat the Stem via the mercy rule. The Gold were led by Pito (3 for 3), Dusty (3 for 3), and Frankie (2 for 3), as each player drove in 3 runs. Carlitos had a 3 for 3 effort as well and drove in a run as well. Not much offense for the Stem as Brandon, Skylar and Xavier accounted for the only three hits they had.
Saints 5 Vs D’Backs 1– This was considered a rivalry game because of all the former teammates playing against each other, but the Saints have made it clear who the better team has been all season long. The Saints jumped out to a 2-0 leading in the first with RBI doubles from Mike and Joey. Mike added to the lead with a solo HR in the fifth. The D’Backs made some noise in the bottom half of the fifth when Pete made some questionable subs. Lionel had an RBI single and Kris loaded the bases with one out in the fifth. But the D’Backs were unable to capitalize as their 3 and 4 hitters were unable to bring in any more runs. The Saints added a couple more runs in the 7th to put the game away. Pedro and Joey led the Saints with 2 RBI each against their old team. Mark, Kris and Ralph had 2 hits each for the D’Backs.
Bandits 0 Vs D’Backs 7– D’Backs won due to Bandit forfeit.
Royals 11 Vs Ravens 10– This was your classic slugfest on field 3, as both the Ravens and Royals decided to throw defense out the window and see who could score the most in this one. The Royals had a 3-1 lead in the third when the Ravens struck for 4 runs to take a 5-3 lead after 3 innings. Al Junior had the big hit in the inning with a 2-run double. The Royals answered with 5 runs of their own led by Eric’s 2-run double and took a 8-5 lead. Not to be outdone, the Ravens promptly scored 4 runs to take the 9-8 lead after 4 innings. Once again, Al Junior hit a big 2-run triple, capping a 4 for 4 5 RBI day. That’s it you say? Not so fast. The Royals took the lead in the bottom of the fifth for good, highlighted by Erics 2-run single. Frankie added 3 doubles and 2 RBI, while Kevin and Chris added 3 hits each. Al Boogie, Eddie B, and Gil also had 3 hits each for the Ravens.
Gold 0 Vs Royals 4– The Royals were able to accomplish something in this game that hasn’t been done all season, shutting out the Gold. The Gold threatened to take the early lead in this one. The Gold had runners on second and third with one out in the first when the Royals were able to get out of the jam with 2 key defensive plays by Kevin, who threw out a runner at home on a base running gamble by the Gold, and Darnell’s inning ending throw to first on a hit up the middle. Christian was the spark for the Royals in this game as his two lead off doubles in the 4th and 6th innings keyed the Royal offense. Eric drove him in in the bottom of the fourth, and Kevin brought him in the 6th. Darnell added 2 RBI’s for the Royals. The Gold tried to make some noise in the 6th, but were stopped by Royals defense again. Frankie led the Gold with 2 hits, while Eric led the Royals with 3 hits of his own.
Leland 2 Vs Ravens 4– The Ravens were able to bounce back from a tough loss earlier in the day and beat Leland in this one. Gary gave the Ravens the lead with an RBI single in the second. Leland answered in the bottom of third to tie the game at 1 with Izzy’s RBI single. The Ravens took the lead for good in the top of the 5th inning, led by Al-Boogies lead off HR. Nelson and Timmy added and RBI singles to extend the lead to 4-1. Edwin led Leland with 3 hits, and Eddie F. and Izzy added 2 hits each. Eddie B, Al Junior and Tim had 2 hits each for the Ravens.
Emperors 6 Vs Stem 4– The Emperors continued their winning ways in this one as they beat the Stem 6-4. Due to poor stat keeping by the D’Backs, it is unclear as to who drove in the runs for this game. The Emperors scored 4 runs in first. Jay, Caban, and Eric drove in the runs to get them going. Dee got Stem on the board with an RBI single in the second. Down by 4 in the 6th, Skylar hit a 3-run HR to bring the Stem within one run. But Stem was unable to complete the comeback as the Emperors added an insurance run in the seventh inning. Vido and Jay each had 4 hits for the Emperors, while Dee led Stem with 4 hits and X added 2 hits.
