Game of the Week
Saints Vs Ravens – Some have questioned why even have a GOTW when the past ones have been anything but a game. Well, we pick a game that’s meaningful for some reason or another and go from there. Yes there has been some lopsided games, the people have voted for this one, so let’s hope it’s a battle!
Both teams come off of good weeks and are hoping to keep it rolling as we are a week away from the playoffs. The Ravens are 3-1 in their last 4 games and have even handed out 2 shutouts in the process. Several Ravens players have been on a roll lately. Gil is definitely one of them, 5 hits and 3 RBIs last week. AL Jr is another, accounting for 11 RBIs in his past 4 games.
The Saints on the other hand, are also 3-1 in their last 4 games and have battled in several close games. Mickey drove in 4 runs last week while getting 4 hits. Josh was on fire in his last game and is 2nd on the team with 13 RBIs.
You can catch this game at Noon on Field #2.
Leland Vs Stem – Leland finally played like the way they are capable of playing last week, winning both games and increasing their third place lead by 4 points. Stem hasn’t been playing well and has been shutout in 3 of their last 4 games. They are currently holding on to the last playoff spot by two points and can use every point possible to secure their spot.
Diamondbacks Vs Ravens – As mentioned before, The Ravens are playing well and can secure the 5th seed with a victory. The Dbacks are 1-5 in their last six games. That sole win was actually a result of a forfeit by the Bandits. They have secured their playoff spot and can secure the 7th seed with a win or a tie on the day.
Bandits Vs Emperors – The Bandits barely fielded a team last week but hung in tough against two good teams. By the way, what happened to the Jersey players that made up a good part of the Bandits roster? They are fighting for the last playoff spot and need help to make the postseason. Playing the Emperors won’t help the cause as the Emps have won 6 games in a row. A winning streak like that will be difficult to stop for the Bandits.
Royals Vs Diamondbacks – This is an interesting matchup. The Dbacks haven’t lost to the Royals during the regular season. They won a game and tied the other. The Royals are 3-1 in their last 4 games. The royals cannot do any worse than the 6th seed and can climb up a spot with 2 wins and 2 Ravens losses.
Gold Vs Leland – This is the runner up for the GOTW . It should be a pretty good matchup as both teams are always looking to beat the other. The Gold has won both matchups thus far and would love to sweep the season series. A Gold win or a tie will clinch 1st place for the defending champs. Leland can clinch 3rd place with a win. They can move up to 2nd if they win twice on Sunday and the Saints lose both.
Saints Vs Stem – Another tough matchup for the Stem as they face off against the league’s #2 team. They have yet to win against the Saints in both games played so far and will need to secure a good lead against the comeback Saints if they expect to win. Putting together hits has been difficult for Stem lately.
Emperors Vs Gold – This is actually another good game for the week. The Emps haven’t beaten the Gold this season and haven’t been at full strength for while. Actually neither team has been at full strength lately. I’m sure that will change come playoff Sunday. But this isn’t the playoffs. Gold hasn’t lost to the Emps this season and they don’t plan on getting one now.
Royals Vs Bandits – Royals are the heavy favorite in this matchup. With the Bandits recent struggles and the Royals recent hot-hitting, it easy to see why this matchup is easy to call. The Bandits would need a major upset to sneak into the playoffs.
See you on the Blvd!
