Game of the Week- Leland (7-1-2) vs Royals (6-2-2)
The Royals are looking to bounce back from an early first round exit in last weeks tournament while Leland is looking to avoid the hangover of losing a heart-breaker to the Gold in the finals. Leland took care of the Royals the first time these two met, but the Royals are determined to bounce back and prove their hot start was not a fluke. Only three point separates these two teams in the standings and a Leland win can create some separation between the two.
Saints (3-5-2) vs Ravens (1-9)- The Ravens had struggled all year long, but their showing in last weeks tournament showed how dangerous this team can be when healthy. The Saints have struggled to be consistent this year but also seem to be coming around after the last few weeks. The Saints beat the Ravens the first time they met earlier in the year, but the Ravens are looking to carry their good tournament showing into the regular season.
D’Backs (3-5-2) vs Emperors (4-4-2)- The D’Backs strong outing in week 5 did not translate into last weeks tournament, but they have turned the page and are looking to win their 3rd straight regular season game. The Emperors won seven straight games in the tournament but fell short in the semi-finals. They will be looking to carry over their strong performance to the regular season. The Emperors took the first match-up by a score of 4-1.
Emperors (4-4-2) vs Devils (3-5-2)- The Devils have struggled losing four straight games since opening the regular season strong. Only 3 points separates these two teams in the standings and the Emperors would love to extend that lead. The Emperors dominated the Devils in their first match and beat them via the mercy rule. The Devils would love to repay the favor and get themselves back on track.
Leland (7-1-2) vs Ravens (1-9)- Leland has been playing great ball this season as they combine their strong defense with their trademark offensive fire power. The Ravens have struggled all year but are getting their guys back now and looking to finally make some noise and move up in the standings. Leland took the first match-up 4-0, but as the Ravens showed us last week, they are much better than their record shows.
Saints (3-5-2) vs The Gold (7-3)- The Gold had been flying under the radar with other teams in the leagues getting off to hot starts this season, but they have been flexing their muscle the last few weeks and reminded every one last week why they are the best stickball team around. The Saints will need to get off to a good start offensively and play good defense. The Gold have been capitalizing off other teams mistakes and making them pay with big innings. The Gold took the first match-up by a score of 7-4.
Royals (6-2-2) vs Devils (3-5-2)- After a 5-0 start, the Royals have struggled going 1-2-2. The last team they beat was these same Devils. The Devils have lost four straight after starting the season 3-1-2. The Royals will have to snap out of their funk if they want to keep pace with Leland and The Gold in the standings. The Devils will need to get back on track if they want to avoid falling into the cellar.
D’Backs (3-5-2) vs The Gold (7-3)- The last time these two met, it seemed the D’Backs would get the best of the Gold until they collapsed late in the game. In order to beat the Gold they will have to play a complete game on both offense and defense. That is easier said than done as the Gold sport the leagues best offense, and have won 5 of their 6 last regular season games, as well as winning the Memorial Day title. Scoring won’t be easy as the Gold also boast the leagues best defense.
